KozGro is formulated to be from the Earth, for the Earth, but what does this mean?
To answer this question, we must look back almost 65 years to the past. Oree Ivie, unhappy with the “new” chemical fertilizers at the time, wanted to take a more natural approach
to farming his 80 acre farm in Notus, Idaho.
The Ivie farm raised sugar beets, lettuce seed, alfalfa and corn. Oree Ivie started using
all-natural ingredients on his crops and named his first product “Renovate”. His friends, neighbors and family saw the increase of yields of his crops and soon began purchasing Renovate to use on their own fields. Renovate changed its name to KozGro
in 1956 because it “causes things to grow”, and that name stuck!

KozGro was ahead of its time, being one of the first organic soil builders on the market in Idaho and the north west. It was sold and used by a slew of farmers
and grew into a full-fledged business.
KozGro soon went from producing just Agricultural Field Blend to creating other products with the small gardener and landscape clientele in mind. After the passing of Oree Ivie, his son Wendell Ivie stepped in to continue the family legacy of producing organic crop management products. KozGro boomed until the recession of 2008, when the doors to the processing facility were forced to close, much like many small family businesses in America and around the world were forced to do in the wake of economic instability. However, Wendell kept making the product in small batches for close friends and some of his loyalist customers. But now, the legacy of KozGro has been passed down to Wendell’s youngest daughter and her husband’s family, who in 2020 are revitalizing KozGro for today’s market much like KozGro has revitalized many fields, crops, lawns and small gardens. KozGro has always been a family business and will continue to be so.

Continuing with tradition, the next generation of KozGro Organics will be using the same secret formulas that were first loved in the 1950’s to produce our original Agricultural Field Blend for the larger orchard and field crop, GardenGro for the home gardener, and Lawn & Landscape for grasses and ornamental plants.
